News and information relating to Kristin's LSCC partnerships

I want to take a moment to thank those folks who were able to attend the third Livable Snohomish County Summit and Candidate Forum, “SnoH20mish:  Learning About our Water Resources” on October 29th sponsored by Pilchuck Audubon Society’s Smart Growth Program, and co-sponsored by Futurewise, Snohomish Group of Sierra Club, Transition Port Gardner, Citizens to Protect the Upper Snohomish River Valley (CPUSRV) and KSER 90.7FM radio.  While I know there was a lot of information being presented at all the various breakout sessions, as well as two great films concerning the assault on our water resources here and abroad, I hope you came away from the summit knowing a bit more and feeling more inspired to work together for a better tomorrow. With around 150 people in attendance, all of the breakout sessions were well-attended.  I would love your feedback as well, so please take a few minutes and email me your thoughts:  Kristin@futurewise.org.

Part of the focus of the summit was to bring people together for networking and for support.  As such, your attendance now automatically means you a part of the Livable Snohomish County Coalition (LSCC). This is not a group or organization; it is a way to communicate with each other, through me, on issues that affect Snohomish County.  I have added you to the LSCC email list that is only available to me, and I am very careful not to share emails unless I have permission.  I use the list from time to time to update folks on important land use and environmental policy and regulation issues, for education and action alerts so you can be involved if you so choose.

As a member, whether an individual or part of a neighborhood group, organization or business, we would love that you would register on our LSCC website www.livablesnohomish.org.   As part of the LSCC, you will have opportunities to help my work to encourage our decision makers to do good things for our environment.  Over the last 6 years since the beginning of the coalition, many LSCC members have worked together to ensure good protections for water quality with Snohomish County’s and cities’ critical areas regulations, shoreline master plans, and comprehensive planning.

The LSCC website is improving and is up to date.  If you want to post an event or information, links, etc., please get the information to me as soon as possible before the event.  Currently we have an administrator of the website, but I am looking for a volunteer who has website experience to take on this minimal task. We will be posting the two main presentation power points on the website soon.

If you do not want to be a part of the LSCC email list, please let me know and I will take you off the list.

I also hope that you will help build the capacity of the LSCC by asking your friends, family, neighbors and associates to be part of the coalition.

In addition, please consider joining or donating to the two organizations I work for, Futurewise and Pilchuck Audubon Society.  Membership will help ensure that our work here in Snohomish County and statewide to protect water quality, and our valuable farm and forests, while helping our urban area grow into sustainable, livable communities, continues. Please visit both our websites at www.futurewise.org  and www.pilchuckaudubon.org

I announce upcoming meetings, hearings and events every Monday afternoon around 4:40 p.m. on KSER 90.7FM.  Listen in if you can.

If you have any questions, concerns, comments or information, please feel free to email me anytime!

Most sincerely,

Kristin Kelly
