Complete Communities Coalition

Futurewise co-chairs the steering committee of the Complete Communities Coalition (CCC), an alliance of affordable housing advocates, community-based organizations, nonprofit developers, urbanists, environmentalists, the local business community. The CCC is dedicated to fostering an affordable, equitable, and sustainable Seattle through a transformational 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update, seeking to guide Seattle towards a future with abundant housing and inclusive growth.

Letter to Mayor Bruce Harrell

In spring 2024, Futurewise and the CCC organized over 60 local businesses, community organizations, for-profit and nonprofit housing developers, environmental groups, and political organizations to sign a letter to Mayor Bruce Harrell inviting city leadership to dream bigger on the comprehensive plan update.

The Complete Communities Coalition advocacy priorities for the Seattle comprehensive plan update include:

  • Allow midrise housing (4-8 stories) and mixed uses in all residential areas within walking distance of frequent transit

  • Allow middle housing like triplexes, fourplexes, sixplexes, townhouses, and stacked flats throughout all residential areas

  • Create significant floor area, height, and density bonuses for affordable and social housing development
