GreenLink supports the city of Port Angeles’s goals to improve water quality, habitat, and community assets through a holistic view of watershed planning that promotes inclusion, coordination, and a broad definition of watershed.
Project Overview
Since 2018, Futurewise has led the GreenLink Port Angeles project to develop an integrated network of implementable green infrastructure project recommendations to improve water quality, habitat, and community assets. GreenLink utilized a unique mapping strategy to identify priority projects along with emphasizing deep community engagement.
An advisory committee made up of local stakeholders and technical advisers provided guidance throughout the process. We also engage with residents to collect community knowledge about local uses of the watershed and preferences for potential projects. The mapping and community engagement process led to the selection of Valley Creek as a priority project for the community.
In 2023, Futurewise led the development of the GreenLink Master Plan for Valley Creek, a blueprint for the revitalization and restoration of Lower Valley Creek.
