In Seattle, Futurewise staffs Seattle for Everyone, a similar cross-sector coalition. We secured a recent victory with Seattle for Everyone in July 2022 when the Seattle City Council voted in favor of reforming the design review process for new affordable housing development. The council approved two new pieces of legislation that taken together will streamline and expedite the construction of new affordable units, the deepest housing need in Seattle where the median new apartment rent has reached over $2,200.
Previous victories of the Seattle for Everyone coalition included passing parking reform and Mandatory Housing Affordability (MHA) policies in Seattle.
