Futurewise Endorsements for the November 2024 Election
The November 5th election day is creeping up on us (or did you not notice in the onslaught of election ads, yard signs, and texts to donate?!). While the national election is getting a lot of attention, there are a number of local issues on your ballot to pay attention to! Futurewise has endorsed a number of state and local initiatives that deserve your vote. Read on for our quick and dirty voter’s guide:
State Initiatives:
I-2117– Vote NO
I-2117 would repeal the Climate Commitment Act, a critical source of funding for transit and transportation projects, clean energy investments and tribal priorities like culvert repairs. Futurewise has joined the diverse coalition of environmental organizations, labor unions, tribal nations, farmers, and small businesses in opposing I-2117. Vote NO.

I-2066 – Vote NO
I-2066 would preempt local control of energy policy, gut building codes that encourage new construction to use heat pumps, and prohibit local electrification incentives. Futurewise is partnering with clean energy builders, community organizations, labor unions, public health advocates, and environmental nonprofits in opposing I-2066. Vote NO.

I-2109 – Vote NO
I-2109 would repeal the state’s capital gains tax, currently paid by less than 4,000 people but providing nearly $900 in funding to schools and childcare. Washington has long had one of the most regressive tax systems in our nation. Repealing the progressive capital gains tax would continue to put the pressure of funding essential services disproportionately on middle and working class families. Vote NO.

Local Ballot Measures:
Seattle Transportation Levy Proposition 1 – Vote YES!
Futurewise is recommending a YES vote on Seattle’s Proposition 1, the renewal of the city’s transportation levy. Prop 1 funds essential upgrades, improves safety in neighborhoods and business districts, and promotes accessibility for all. Futurewise is joining our fellow transportation advocates in endorsing Prop 1.
