Week of March 19 Legislative Update
Wow, what a busy week! We had hearings on all of our bills, TWO more scheduled for vote in committees, and daylight savings started. Things are moving much quicker now that we are only a week and a half away from the next round of cutoffs. The good news, all of our bills are in a great spot.
Climate passes the Senate Local Gov Committee!
Thursday morning, HB1181 passed the Senate Local Government, Land Use, and Tribal Affairs committee, our bill to add climate planning to the GMA. We’re one step closer to victory, thanks to the 1000+ supporters that signed in pro for its hearing last week. Next stop— Senate Ways and Means committee, let’s keep up the support!
Big turnout at TOD and Middle Housing Hearings
Rounding out our week were the hearings on our SB5466 TOD (transit-oriented development) and HB1110 Missing Middle Housing bills, with a whopping 1800+ people signing in PRO. These are the fourth hearings for each of these bills, and showing up in a consistently huge way is key the keeping these bills moving. Nice work!
Middle Housing scheduled for a vote
The good news just keeps coming! Middle Housing is scheduled for a vote in the Senate Housing Committee on 3/22 at 1:30pm, and TOD is scheduled in the House Housing Committee on 3/21 at 4pm. Take action today and email your legislators to vote YES! TOD is scheduled for a vote later this month, stay tuned on how to take action on it.
