Week of February 26 Legislative Update

We got some great news this week! Our bills are in a good position before the first major cutoff that is coming up. We are now in the Floor Vote Frenzy! We have just a few actions for you — check them out:

RSVP for the Floor Vote Frenzy Kickoff!

Join us Tuesday, February 28 at 6pm over Zoom for our Futurewise Floor Vote Frenzy Kickoff! It will be an opportunity to celebrate our progress, take actions, and kick off our organizing frenzy to mobilize 1000 Washingtonians to get our bills passed off the floor. We’re going to need all hands on deck!

We will be hearing from HB1110 sponsor Representative Jessica Bateman, Wes Stewart from the Clean Transportation for All, and our very own Director of External Affairs, Kate Brunette! You don’t want to miss this. RSVP today!

Floor Vote Frenzy Action!

Can’t make the kickoff meeting? No worries! You can actually take action today on all three bills we are championing! This includes:

  • HB 1181 — Mitigating the effects of climate change with the Growth Management Act

  • HB 1110 — Increasing housing options with Missing Middle Housing

  • SB 5466 — Connecting people and communities with Transit-Oriented Development

These bills need to be voted out of their chamber by March 8th. We can only pass these bills if we show overwhelming support For Our Future. Take action today!

HB 1110 Voted out of Appropriations 25-5!

Finally, because of your efforts, HB 1110, our bill to legalize middle housing, was voted out of the House Appropriations Committee by a bipartisan vote of 25-5! This is a resounding victory, and further proof that our collective action is key to seeing these bills go through. Thank you so much for your continued support.

That’s all we have this week. Hope to see you on Tuesday!
