Meet Tara Camp, Seattle Organizer!

Just as we geared up for the most important and final votes for Seattle’s Comprehensive Plan, we have Tara on board to help us finish this important work strong!

Welcome to the Futurewise team, Tara, and thanks for sharing a bit about yourself-

Tell us a little about yourself! How did you end up at Futurewise?

I’m a generalist naturalist who loves birds, bagels, and being myself. Being an organizer is also a huge part of who I am, and I knew I wanted to do meaningful work in a meaningful place! Futurewise checked all the boxes for me <3

Why do you believe in Futurewise’s work? Why do you think what we do is important?

Advocating for our natural world, for housing and climate justice, for equity and a greener future, Futurewise cares about what I care about. Giving communities power and a stronger voice to create a better future for all across Washington state is more than important, it’s necessary, and I’m really proud to be a part of that work.

What do you do outside of work?

I love spending time in nature, with my cats, with my friends, and with my community. I love to engage with other people constantly and adore making new connections! I’m also an active volunteer with 350 Seattle and 350 WA, helping others build organizing skills and get connected to legislative advocacy work.

What’s your favorite thing about living in Washington?

Everything, it’s my home.

If you could snap your fingers and fix one issue facing our state, what would it be?

Our education system!!
