Campaign Kickoff: Washington Can’t Wait

Futurewise is launching our Washington Can’t Wait Campaign to fight for action on climate change, environmental justice and affordable housing by passing the biggest changes to the Growth Management Act in three decades. Please join us for our Campaign Kickoff on Thursday, September 24 from 5:30 to 6:30. RSVP here.

Fighting sprawl to protect our climate

We’re running out of time to take action on climate change. By making our urban areas affordable and accessible to all through bold affordable housing policy, preventing disproportionate impacts of local pollution on communities of color, and ensuring that cities and counties are planning for climate change, we have the opportunity to transform the lives of Washingtonians and the natural environment around us.

Why now

We have a brief window to make big changes to the GMA before Washington’s cities and counties embark on their next comprehensive plan updates, which will lock in policy for the next decade. We cannot wait another ten years to tackle climate change, environmental justice and the housing affordability crisis.

That’s why Washington Can’t Wait is working with community members, partners and legislators to update the GMA in 2021 and ensure that cities and counties are planning for climate and housing while addressing environmental justice. Click Here to Receive Campaign Updates

Campaign Kickoff

Join us at our kickoff meeting this Thursday, September 24th to learn about our plan to ensure that cities and counties in Washington are planning for an equitable and sustainable future by passing major updates to the GMA in 2021. We’ll hear from Reps. Duerr and Fitzgibbon about our path to victory through the legislature and what we need from all of our supporters to reach our goal, meet our new lead organizer, connect with supporters from across Washington, and learn about opportunities to plug in to make this campaign a success. Sign up Here!

We Need You

It is no exaggeration when we say that we will need a lot of support from our community if we want to win big. As we build this grassroots campaign over the next several months, we will be mobilizing our communities to put the pressure on state legislators to be on the right side of history in addressing climate change, housing affordability and environmental justice by passing major updates to the GMA in 2021.

To do this, we will need to build our people power as well as hit key fundraising goals to keep our campaign going.

If you are able to make a monetary contribution to our campaign, we would so appreciate it. You can Donate Here!

Additionally, if  you are interested in being involved with our campaign as a volunteer, you can sign up for a regional campaign meeting or fill out our volunteer general interest form.

Thank you so much for your support. We cannot win this fight without you.
